2024

installation

printed photographs on acrylic, 6x9cm each
variable dimensions

In the installation, I investigate the conditions for an encounter with my great-uncle and artist, Cesar Papa, through color. Two sinuous lines, of different sizes, are constructed by the suspension of 80 details of photographs printed on acrylic. Side by side, creating a space to be traversed by passersby, the lines evoke two rivers – and the relationship between these banks.

The photographs are blue details present in the more than 800 documents of my great-uncle’s collection; and in the collection I built during a trip, following the routes of César’s archive. Photographs taken in Brasília, Arraial do Cabo, Laguna Beach, Bangkok, Patrocínio, Honolulu, Recife, Los Angeles, Chiang Mai, Macau, Rio de Janeiro, São Francisco. Two artists and two travelers – between us, the blue.
