In 1986 Cesar Papa, my great-uncle, arrived at the United States. His desires, his longing for Brazil and the building of an artistic process was documented in the correspondence he sent to his family. Cesar's postcards do not have a nominal greeting. Reading in the present  evokes the question — who is the addressee but myself and all of us who are listening to?
This action is a reading–hearing–gazing of letters: we listen to tapes, we see filmed letters, the artist reads letters from her great-uncle, people who are present receive postcards and are invited to read as well.
